PANJIM:  Taleigao saw a massive blaze in the fields on Monday. Clouds of smoke and heat were generated in the fire. Thirty people were evacuated from the nearby complexes. The Fire Burned for nearly 8 hours. Herald Media asked people “how could such a fire be prevented in Taleigao fields?”

There has to be an investigation as to who causes this fire. Now this fire has been put out, but there wont be any followup.

The fire that has occurred on Monday was the worst. All the residents of this Vision Park complex had to be shifted out. That much of smoke was there and the wind was strong towards the complex. Complaints have been made n number of times to the village panchayat. There has to be an investigation as to who causes this fire. Now this fire has been put out, but there wont be any followup. In another few days they won’t investigated how the fire occurred, who started it, etc. There wont be any inquiry. There has to be machinery that cuts these weeds, so that fires do not have to be lit.

They told me that they will put tractor in the fields so that the grass does not grow. That was a good idea
Juliet Fernandes, Resident, Camrabhat

They told me that they will put tractor in the fields so that the grass does not grow. That was a good idea. I have informed Agnelo, our Panchayat Member. We come under Taleigao panchayat. He said they will discuss, I hope they do it. If there is not grass, there is no fire. That’s for sure. Who will tell the farmers not to put fires. Who will listen? If they put the fire, they should put it off also.

The natural lungs are being destroyed. They are encouraging concrete structures and grow a Singapore model on them.

These fires are put in many areas of Goa. Particularly in Taleigao, the ecology has been destroyed in the massive fire. There is concretization happening in Taleigao, and the move of setting the fire appears to be to set up a concrete jungle. Then a statement comes from the ministry that plants should be grown in cities and they should become the lungs of the city. Should we destroy our natural lungs and create artificial ones?
