PANJIM: Recently, the Calangute PI Paresh Naik was transferred within 24 hours on immediate basis, after taking action against a nightclub ‘Down Town’ in Baga, Calangute, by sealing it and arresting the bouncers who beat up two local youth. This has left the community in shock over the complete failure of law and order in the State. In this edition of Street Voices, Herald TV spoke to people whether the law and order machinery is chained by politics.
The law and order machinery is not only chained by politics but also by the investors who come to Goa to invest in mega projects and to destroy Goa. Those who come to invest they are controlling the economy and also the law and order situation. They have a parallel police force, and these are bouncers.
To control law and order there is need for independent operations by the police. Earlier, there is already an incident, wherein a Director General of Police director a Police Inspector not to take action against the demolition of an Assagao House. The PI confessed that DGP had threatened him that if he didn’t take his instructions he would be falsely accused in a drug case. The DGP was subsequently transferred.
