Agonda: Karnataka's former minister and three-time MLA from Karwar constituency Prabhakar Sadashiv Rane passed away on Monday afternoon at the age of 80. Karwar-based advocate Ramkrishna Naik said that the final rites will be performed on Tuesday at his hometown of Siddar, Karwar. Rane was elected to the assembly three consecutive times in 1983, 1985 and 1989 as a Congress party candidate. He lost the 1994 state elections to Vasant Asnotikar. 

"He was a retired school teacher and had a strong grasp of the political environment in Karwar region. We lost an experienced leader today," said Naik.
