Tomazinho headed panel takes charge of DKA

PANJIM: As per the constitution of Dalgado Konknni Academy, elections to the post of the president were held, recently, and the presiding officer declared Tomazinho Cardozo elected as the new head. Prior to that, Fr Conceicao D’ Silva, Vincy Quadros, Celso Fernandes, Pio Esteves, Pandharinath D Lotlikar and Alfonso Braganza were elected unopposed as the members of the working committee. On the same day, the presiding officer Adv Pritam Lotlikar administered the oath of office to all seven newly elected members.

In the first meeting of the new working committee held on February 16, Cardozo selected Fr Conceicao D’Silva as vice president, Vincy Quadros as secretary and Celso Fernandes as the treasurer. Then the president with the working committee unanimously nominated four members representing the associations as follows: Daniel F de Souza (Talia Prokaxon, Vasco), Anthony Miranda (Kola Sonskrutik Kendr, Kutthtthalle), Vassalo Carvalho (Udentiche Kolle, Kannkonn) and Mathew D’Costa (Kuddchodde Konknni Kendr).

Likewise, in fulfilment of the constitutional requirements, two females, namely Miss Selza Lopes representing North Goa and Miss Sonia Gomes representing South Goa were nominated.

The new working committee of Dalgado Konknni Academy has vowed to bring about awareness of the academy throughout Goa and beyond and with the full support and cooperation of all writers, readers, lovers and benefactors, ensure usage of Konknni language in Roman script by all the sections of the public.
