Train passengers robbed of gold, cash and valuables

MARGAO: An 18-year-old girl from Kottayam, Kerala, who was travelling on train number 22113, the Kochuveli Superfast Express, from Maharashtra to Kerala, has filed a complaint with the Konkan Railway Police, alleging that an unidentified person stole her handbag containing valuables worth Rs 1.28 lakh. The theft reportedly occurred while the train was in transit between Pernem and Margao railway stations.

According to the complainant, the stolen handbag contained an iPhone, a wristwatch, wireless bluetooth earphones, a debit card, and Rs 2,000 in cash. The accused person, she claimed, fraudulently withdrew Rs 68,028 using the stolen debit card through a point-of-sale (POS) transaction. 

In a separate incident, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 4,70,000 were stolen from a running train at Pernem railway station.
