On Sunday (23 February 2025) Latambarcem Panchayat body along with villagers inspected the road connecting Goa and Maharashtra. They observed that the road was constructed in violation of government regulations, with the authorities remaining uninformed about the situation.
Krishnarao Rane, a villager expressed concern that despite numerous complaints lodged by local residents, no governmental action has been taken regarding the ongoing activities, which involve significant hill cutting and deforestation.
Responding to the illegality, Latambarse Village panchayat Sarpanch Dr Rama Gaonkar stated "Some time ago this matter had come to us where mentions of this matter were made and was said to have been stopped. However, it is now confirmed that the road is entirely complete. No authorization has been provided by either myself or the panchayat to any individual for the execution of these works; therefore, we have arrived to assess the site". Further, he states that A lengthy compound wall has been constructed, extending far beyond the visible horizon, funded by the revenues of both the government and the panchayat.
