On April 1, 2025, between 00:35 hrs and 03:40 hrs, a narcotics raid was conducted near the Primary Health Centre in Siolim, Bardez, Goa, based on specific and reliable information. During the operation, police apprehended Sonu Yadav, a 29-year-old resident of Nauwaboh, Islamabad Post, Madanpur, Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, who was found in illegal possession of 5,010 grams of narcotic substance suspected to be Ganja, valued at approximately Rs. 5,00,000.
The narcotics were found on a white Honda Activa scooter (Registration No. GA-07-M-7636) that Yadav was riding. Following the discovery, Anjuna Police Station registered an FIR (No. 57/2025) under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
Yadav was arrested and remanded to five days of police custody by the court. The investigation is being conducted by PSI Viraj Naik of Anjuna PS, under the supervision of PI Anjuna PS and overall guidance from SDPO Mapusa and SP North Porvorim.
The police continue to investigate the matter, with further developments expected.
