CANACONA: Blessed in abundance by nature, Canacona taluka appears even more beautiful during monsoons. There are three main waterfalls in Canacona that attract huge crowds every monsoon season not just from the state but also from the nearby Karwar district.
The Bhupar and Bamanbudo falls come under the Gaodongrem panchayat area while Kuske is in Cotigao.
Bhupar falls have become popular in recent years, especially among trekkers. However, the route towards this fall is extremely narrow and risky.
Locals have demanded that authorities provide better facilities with this fall as that can also add to the revenue of the village which is economically backward. The Bamanbudo waterfall in Ambeghat is close to the road but there is not enough space for parking.
The Kuskem waterfall in Cotigao comes under protected areas and hence, requires Forest Department's permission. If these waterfalls are developed then it will help to create employment opportunities for the locals. Since parts of Cotigao and multiple other panchayats come under a protected area, there are restrictions on locals to thrive financially.
