Will 11 of the bad roads in Panjim be repaired by Smart City, within 11 days?

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant who also holds the PWD portfolio had given an assurance that the bad roads will be repaired within 15 days. A similar submission had been made before the High Court by the Goa Government. In this Edition of Street Voices, Herald TV asked people ‘Are you happy with the pace of repairs of the Smart City roads? Will 11 of the bad roads in Panjim be repaired within 11 days?

It is a smart way of fooling the people of Panjim. From the beginning of the works the pace has been very slow. Everytime an assurance is given to the Court, it is a coverup operation for all the faults and the money spent recklessly, aimlessly and substandard works done in Panjim city. One can understand the heavy showers of late, but what is the quality of the works done earlier? Why was reckless and substandard work done earlier? Im asking for a CBI investigation into the money spent. Serious offences of spending thousands of crores of people and assuring people of completing the works. It is highly difficult for them to complete the work given the traffic, the rains and the Ganesh Festival.

Quality is of primary importance. They have not maintained the quality anywhere. The Bhatulem road was washed away within 15 days. Because the road was washed away, they put pavers, they too broke loose. The same is the story with Panjim roads. Roads which were done up in April May have all been washed away. I have demanded that the JEs, AEs or EEs who have supervised the roads should be immediately suspended and contractors should be blacklisted. In Bhatulem, daily people fall. I have taken four people to hospital in Mala in my car. The person who fell has bouts of memory loss. They will not be able to complete the works in 11 days.

Out of the total 11 roads, the Smart City has done nothing about the 8 roads. The other 3 roads fall within jurisdiction of the CCP. Smart City has done as they wish, but the work is not complete. Ganesh Chaturthi is just 4 days away. The primary object of repairing roads was that people should be able to bring home the idol of Lord Ganesh safely. In Bhatulem, Altinho and in Panjim the roads have been washed away. If any Ganesh idol develops a crack due to bad road, for that person it is a sin. They will not be able to complete the works in 11 days due to intervening Ganesh holidays due to which many officers will stay away from work.
