PANJIM: The “Little Police” initiative of the Goa Police has been awarded Special Jury Award (Smart Policing Award) by FICCI on best practices for the policing at FICCI Auditorium, New Delhi recently.
On behalf of Goa Police, the award was received by IGP Sunil Garg at the hands of chief guest Haribhai Patel, Minister of State (Home), New Delhi.
Total 22 States and 3 central para military forces had sent their entries.
As an initiative in community policing and to bridge the gap between the citizens and the Police, Goa Police has decided to launch “Little Police” (Little Cop). Under “Little Police”, students preferably of standard 10 and above can volunteer to be enrolled as members of the “Little Police”.
The impetus behind this idea is to have a better connect between the police force and ordinary citizens, especially children and adults. The society needs to deal with the law and order problems, together, coordinating and cooperating with each other in a holistic way.
Each person has to take responsibility for the kind of world he or she lives in and only then can we expect a positive change in our society.
