SIRIDAO: Dried-up tears in the eyes that were once filled with pride and love are what is now left with the Sawant family from Siridao as their daughter leaves for her afterlife.

Life was about to change for the better for Sanjana on Tuesday. Little did she know that all that was to end after the Siridao accident on Tuesday morning.

The accident not just killed Sanjana, but also the dreams she possessed of being an independent woman by starting a new job.

Anger and criticism are being expressed all over Goa following the tragic accident that claimed the life of Sanjana on Tuesday morning. Sanjana had left for the Goa Velha church and the temple to seek blessings for her new job she was about to join at Dabolim airport on the fateful day.

The accident occurred when the accused Omkar Aroskar proceeding from Pilar towards Siridao market riding his motorcycle in a rash and negligent manner went towards the opposite lane and rammed into the Sanjana’s two-wheeler. Injured to such an extent, Sanjana succumbed to her injuries while being shifted to GMC, Bambolim.

Sanjana’s sister Akshata sustained bodily injuries. On discovering that the accident was a result of rash riding by the accused, her family initially refused to accept Sanjana’s body. After assurance from the Agasaim police inspector, the family decided to accept her body and conducted final rites.

The Agasaim police registered an offence against the accused under Sections 279, 304-A and 337 of IPC. The final rites were conducted at Siridao on Wednesday afternoon.

Hardworking and wise, Sanjana was the favourite and pride of her parents.

An angry Anil Sawant (Sanjana’s father) said, “The parents of the boy should realise one thing, we had not raised our daughter to be killed by somebody's rash and negligent driving.”

Additionally, Sanjana’s father earnestly requested proper medical attention for her younger sister, who remains in critical condition, urging the doctors to provide her with the utmost care.

“I don’t have anyone else now. She needs proper medical attention,” he said.
