Vice Admiral Silva laid to rest

VASCO: Vice Admiral (Retd) John Colin De Silva, a son of Goa, was laid to rest on Monday with full military honours, after the funeral mass at Holy Family Church, Porvorim.
Rear Admiral Philipose G Pynumootil, flag officer of Goa Naval area, attended the funeral and laid a wreath.
Several retired chiefs of Naval Staff attended the funeral including Admiral Madhvendra Singh, Admiral Arun Prakash and Admiral Sureesh Mehta. Other retired flag officers including Vice Adm Damle, Vice Adm V Bharathan and Rear Adm S Y Shrikhande, were also present to pay their respects to the Admiral.
Many senior officers from the Indian Coast Guard were also present to bid farewell to a former Director General of the Indian Coast Guard. Ex-Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Madhvendra Singh delivered a eulogy at the church.
