
Panjim: On October 3rd, the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) and various trade unions marked the day as a "Black Day" and organized a protest in Panjim, Goa. The primary demands made during the protest were as follows:
1. Withdrawal of Cases: AITUC demanded the withdrawal of all cases filed against farmers and trade union activists who have been involved in various struggles.
2. Scrap Labor Codes: The unions called for the abandonment of the recently introduced labor codes.
3. Reversed Salaries: AITUC demanded that workers receive salaries with a minimum wage of Rs 26,000 per month.
4. Pension: The unions called for a pension of Rs 10,000 per month and social security for all.
5. Stop Privatization: AITUC urged authorities to halt the privatization of public sector undertakings (PSUs) and services.
6. Electricity (Amendment) Bill: They demanded the scrapping of the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 20221.
7. Comprehensive Loan Waiver: The unions also called for a comprehensive loan waiver for farmers.
The protest aimed to address various labor and farmer-related issues and push for reforms and support for workers and farmers.
