Traffic authorities in Anjuna, Calangute, and Panjim convened meetings with taxi and rent-a-car/bike owners to discuss and implement new regulations regarding vehicle rentals in Goa. Under the new rules, all drivers and renters of vehicles must sign an undertaking before using the roads in Goa.

Anjuna Traffic PI Shitakant Nayak emphasized the importance of the undertaking, describing it as an agreement between renters and rental agencies to prioritize safety on Goan roads. Owners were urged to comply with the regulation to facilitate tracking down violators of traffic rules.

Calangute traffic cell also conducted a meeting with rent-a-car/bike owners, briefing them about the new regulation. Approximately 71 owners attended the session, where authorities reiterated the necessity of the undertaking to ensure tourists adhere to traffic rules while enjoying their visit.

Panjim traffic police further engaged with the Rent-a-car Association, emphasizing the need for proper documentation and verification of details before renting out vehicles.

Panjim Traffic PI highlighted the significance of the regulation, stressing the importance of owners informing customers, particularly tourists, about basic safety rules such as wearing helmets, seat belts, and maintaining speed limits. The undertaking serves as a valid proof in case of any mishap in the future.

This initiative comes in response to a rise in tourists flouting traffic rules, aiming to enhance road safety and prevent accidents on Goan roads.
