
In a significant initiative commemorating World AIDS Day,
the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, in collaboration with
the Human Touch Foundation and with the support of Novotel Goa at Candolim,
organized a dynamic program for over 60 children and young adolescents living
with HIV from across Goa on December 1st. The goal was to establish a
supportive and inclusive environment for these young individuals. The inaugural
ceremony featured Mr. Vikrant Usgaonkar, Senior Director of Talent and Culture,
Alex Dias, Executive Chef at Novotel, Peter F. Borges, Chairperson of Goa State
Commission for Protection of Child Rights, and Venicia Fernandes, Secretary,
Human Touch Foundation.
Aligned with the theme "Let Communities Lead" for
World AIDS Day, the program focused on fostering a sense of community.
Participants were warmly welcomed to Novotel Resort, creating an atmosphere of
acceptance and understanding. The day was marked by joy, celebrations, lively
dance performances, and engaging activities that utilized expressive arts to
uplift spirits and provide a platform for self-expression and creativity.
The event successfully built a sense of community among
young adolescents and youth living with HIV, promoting open conversations, shared
experiences, and mutual support.
Interactive workshops facilitated open dialogues among
participants, addressing questions and concerns, and creating a supportive
network for those navigating the challenges of living with HIV. Artistic
performances and exhibitions showcased the resilience and talents of the young
individuals living with HIV, using art as a powerful medium to convey messages
of hope, strength, and unity.
