
The Meteorological Department has notified that the maximum
temperature is very likely to be in the range of 33-35°C, over North &
South Goa districts for the next 7 days; No Large Change in maximum temperature
for the next 2 days has been predicted. However, hot and humid weather
conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Goa state during
15-17 April 2024.
The
Meteorological Centre, Goa has observed that heat is tolerable for the general
public but moderate health concern for vulnerable people e.g. infants, elderly,
and people with chronic diseases • Possibility of Dehydration • Dry grass
catching fire • It is advised to take precautionary measures for hot weather
while going outside during peak hours of the day (around 1100 IST-1500 IST). •

THINGS TO DO DURING HIGH
TEMPERATURE DAYS
-Avoid
prolonged heat exposure.
•
Wear lightweight, light colored, loose, cotton clothes.
•
Cover your head: use a wet cloth, hat or umbrella while going out during peak
hours.
•
Drink sufficient water at regular intervals even if not feeling thirsty to
avoid dehydration.
• Use
ORS, homemade drinks like lassi, torani (rice water), sugarcane juice, lemon
water, buttermilk, etc. to rehydrate the body.
•
Caution workers to avoid direct sunlight during the peak hours.
•
Schedule strenuous jobs to cooler times of the day. 8
•
Increasing the frequency and length of rest breaks for outdoor activities.
•
Pregnant workers and workers with a medical condition should be given
additional attention.
•
State and central Officials working in the field or having prolonged exposure
from 11 AM to 3 PM are advised to take necessary precautions.
•
Recognize the signs of heat stroke, heat rash or heat cramps such as weakness,
dizziness, headache, nausea, sweating and seizures. If you feel faint or ill,
see a doctor/ hospital immediately.
•
Farmers are advised to continue irrigation activities in sugarcane, summer
maize, pulses and other crops and vegetables.
•
Cultural operations Schedules to cooler times of the day.
•
Avoid alcohol, tea, coffee and carbonated soft drinks, which dehydrates the
body and avoid high protein food and do not eat stale food.
• Election rallies/ gatherings need to be judiciously monitored during peak hours of the day (11am to 3pm), Also people going for rallies/ gatherings advised to take necessary precautions to avoid prolonged exposure in high humid and temperature areas.
