Speaking to the media alongside SP South and other officials, Chandru emphasized that failure to provide satisfactory proof of the source of cash could result in seizure.
Additionally, banks in South Goa have been instructed to furnish daily reports on suspicious transactions in customer accounts, further fortifying measures against potential malpractice in the electoral process.
Meanwhile, in North Goa, Collector Sneha Gitte, accompanied by SP North, conducted a press briefing to provide updates on preparations for the upcoming polls.
Ensuring Fairness: Helplines Established for Reporting Malpractices
In a bid to maintain the integrity of the electoral process, voters have been urged to report any malpractices through designated helpline numbers. For South Goa, the helpline number is 0832-2794100, while for North Goa, it is 0832-2225383. Additionally, a WhatsApp number, 9699793464, has been provided for North Goa residents. Citizens can also utilize the CVigil App for reporting irregularities.
Furthermore, in adherence to Election Commission guidelines, officials are obligated to respond to complaints within 20 minutes and resolve them within 100 minutes.
Strict Monitoring: Measures Against Violations of Model Code of Conduct
To uphold the Model Code of Conduct (MCC), media certification teams will be established to monitor violations and pre-certify political advertisements on digital platforms. Political parties are required to seek certification from these teams before disseminating advertisements.
Moreover, to ensure the credibility of the electoral process, verification of individuals with criminal records, known as "history sheeters," is underway. SP North emphasized that those found to be posing a threat to the electoral process may be externed.
