
A horrifying incident unfolded in Quepem as a mini truck, carrying a family of 15 members, veered off the road and plunged into a valley on Saturday night. The accident claimed the lives of two individuals, with 13 others sustaining serious injuries in the harrowing ordeal.
The Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, along with State Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Desai, came to the aid of the victims after encountering the scene while passing by during a poll campaign. The truck, which was traveling along the Canacona Highway, lost control causing it to overturn and plummet into the valley. Reports suggest that the victims, including five children, were seated on the truck's carrier when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
Upon witnessing the tragic accident, CM Sawant immediately summoned the fire and rescue department along with ambulances to provide assistance. Local police swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The family, reportedly en route from Bangalore to Kolhapur, faced a devastating turn of events as the vehicle overturned, trapping several individuals inside. Despite the prompt response from emergency services, one individual succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while another passed away during treatment at the South Goa District Hospital.
