Dashavatar is a popular form of theatre dating back to eight hundred years. The term Dashavatar refers to the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu, the Hindu God of preservation. The Dashavatar traditional folk theatre form, in Goa, is still a popular form of drama in the rural areas of Sattari Taluka.
The villagers of Sattari witnessed Kalo Dashavatar on Friday evening. The festival displays Goa’s cultural essence and the highlight of this festivity is the tributes dedicated to village deities. Villagers dress up for the colourful mythological drama called the Kalo Dashavatar.
