Renowned Indian skydiver Shital Mahajan has made history as the first woman in the world to execute a helicopter jump from the unprecedented height of 21,500 ft in front of Mt Everest. Aged 41, Mahajan, a Padma Shri awardee and holder of numerous skydiving records, accomplished this remarkable feat on November 13. In a Facebook post, she described it as the "Best jump of my life," landing at Kalapatthar, the highest altitude at 17,444 ft/5,317m. This achievement also marked the highest altitude skydiving landing by a woman and set two additional national records for being the first Indian woman to skydive in front of Mt Everest at Kalapatthar and achieving the highest altitude skydiving landing by a woman.

Mahajan's remarkable series of high-altitude skydives in the Everest region included a leap from 5,000ft AGL at 17,500 feet altitude, a flag jump from 8,000 feet at Syangboche airport, and a collaboration with skydiving legend Wendy Smith, achieving the national record for the highest flag skydiving landing by a woman on November 12. This extraordinary accomplishment solidifies Shital Mahajan's legacy in the realm of skydiving.
