Extra virgin coconut oil catches attention of Malaysians

One the sidelines of Vibrant Goa event, there are many activities in the business circles which have been taking place. One such serious meeting was held at the Goa Chambers of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on Friday morning in which a Malaysian delegation led by Malaysian Mumbai Consulate Trade Consul Anant Pillai met with 15 Goan entrepreneurs and GCCI members headed by the GCCI President Manoj Caculo. 

The issue was pure business and Malaysian delegates have showed keen interest in doing business with Goa in sectors like light engineering, food products, coconut oil, solar energy etc. The Malaysians are having their largest delegate in Vibrant Goa which is over 40 people. 

The founder and social entrepreneur of MOGO (My Old Goa Oil), Paresh Shetgaonkar when contacted by Herald said that, “Yes the Malaysians are interested in our product and we will export our extra virgin coconut oil to Malaysia when all paper work is done. Yes we are also signing an MoU with Singapore for the same.”

“People are connecting in Vibrant Goa and to materialise into relationships it takes time. We at GCCI are trying to ensure that they would require a platform to take it forward. We have the data and resources and we will help facilitate this post Vibrant Goa event. There are lot of interests shown by some of our members to engage for business with the visitors and we will help them take it forward. What we are doing is sending across this information and their contact details of Malaysian delegates to our members who may be interested in taking their business forward with them,” Caculo added.  

In fact the Malaysians are leading a strong over 40-member delegation to participate in Vibrant Goa and have also met the Chief Minister  Pramod Sawant flanked by Vibrant Goa Foundation (VGF) Chairman Nitin Kunkolienker and Manoj Patil the Chairman of Promotion Committee of VGF.

Chairman of the VGF, Nitin Kunkoleinker told Herald that, “The Malaysian delegate requested our Chief Minister to increase the number of direct flight connectivity to Goa from Malaysia and vice versa. They have also shown very keen interest in Goa on several sectors including smart city, IT and technology etc.”
