Review:
Borges is a businessman by profession. His two sons, Abel (Michael) and Caen (Elias) shoulder the responsibility of handling the business.
The eldest, Abel is happily married to Cynthia (Priscila) and blessed with a child Jane (Lareesa). The youngest, Caen makes preparations to settle down with his fiancée Alia.
Meanwhile, Borges is a dictator and has a hold on everyone in the family. Although his daughter-in-law is educated, he prefers to treat her as a housewife.
When Caen settles in marriage and Alia comes in the family as the second daughter-in-law, she turns out to be a threat to Borges. She refuses to bow down to his demands and orders.
Over a period of time, will Alia be able to change her father-in-law? What does she work upon for the change? How does Borges counter Alia? What is the end result?
Comedian Dominic’s tiatr ‘Housewife’ focuses on educated women, who are sometimes made to work as slaves in the house, without any due recognition. There are twists and turns in the drama, which make the viewing interesting.
Eleuterio stands tall as the dictatorial father. As siblings, Michael and Elias are puppets in their father’s presence, but have a hold on their spouses in his absence. Priscila and Sonali have doled out fine performance, with the latter in full command. Teen Laneesa is prompt and swift in her dialogues, winning applause from the audience. As police officer, Rons, who enjoys his photo on the newspaper, is impressive. Xavier de Maina and Agostinho have extended good support to the main cast. Sheriton as a villain is convincing.
In the comical acts, comedian Dominic joins hands with Mathew, Casy and Avila for some laughter moments on stage. But absence of Luis Bachan leaves a huge vacuum on stage, resulting in disappointment among the tiatr fans as well.
In the category of songs, Elias and Jelisca step in for the opening song, followed by solos by Avila, Leslie, Rons, Normandez, Xavier de Maina and Elias, duet by Priscila and Xavier de Maina, duo by Avila and Jelisca and choral by comedian Dominic and team. The concluding quartet highlighting the girls from London receive encore.
Ashtrof and team have provided good live music to all the songs, including background music.
