Skin Colour

For some unknown reason we humans are obsessed with light skin colour. It makes them feel envious and dejected irrespective of personal triumphs and gained glory. We judge another human, their level of knowledge and smartness on the basis of their skin colour. Some are denied opportunities because they are not as appealing as people with fair skin. Probably because we are raised to believe that white skin colour is beautiful and if not one is ugly. 

In the era of technology and progress we demotivate our confident inner self on the basis of appearance. We reassure this mediocrity by hiding behind the perception of mere people. We pull out ourselves from deserving prospects and settle our unsettled inner self only thanks to our fear of being made fun off and judged.

Our obsession of pale white skin is to such a degree that we want to marry a light skinned girl, to ensure that continuity of next generation is fair as well. The fear of not matching up to somebody’s expectation of mere looks makes a girl conscious of her sun tans. You can see girls moving around with wrapped cloth around their faces, fingers clothed with tights to avoid skin darkening. No doubt that most girls fall for skin lightening products and are even obsessed with its use. It isn’t surprising to see young kids patting on skin brightening creams and powders to match up to the laid yardstick of beauty. 

Why are we so obsessed with skin colour? Why do we judge another person on the basis of the skin they were born with? We fail to realise that our casual cruel approach to one who isn’t fair can diminish their self-esteem and ruin their lives. Stop playing around with you friends, cousins or family member on the basis of their skin colour. Your forbidding words might just break their inner self forever.

If people out there think that they are losers because they don’t fit in the category of fair skin colour need to understand the fact that fairness isn’t benchmark to lead carefree life. The colour of your skin is irrelevant in comparison to your hard work, your gifted talents. Don’t make it the reason of your lowered self-esteem. Stop getting affected by words of hypocrites and crude people who are making you fall for their words, who are trying to tear you apart. Don’t make your colour so important that it stagnates your way of life. 

The battle between you and the bullies out there will stop only when you stop reacting, when you stop taking at heart what a person says. Tighten your inner thoughts to believe that you are beautiful as you are. Make your inner self strong enough not to get affected by irrelevant people. Don’t let them take the charge of your life. Do not give in to being called as ugly. Stop trying to be somebody else and embrace yourself with grace and poise. Stride with confidence and self-belief. Guard your dignity by leading your life on your terms.
