India's preparations for the high-stakes five-match Test series against England encountered a brief scare when vice-captain and wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant sustained a minor injury during a net session. While batting, Pant was struck on his left hand, prompting immediate attention from the medical team. An ice pack was applied, and his hand was later taped for protection. Pant did not resume batting and spent the remainder of the session on the sidelines as a precaution, with head coach Gautam Gambhir closely monitoring the situation.

Despite the initial concern, Pant quickly calmed fears by assuring fans and team management that he was fine, stating simply, “All ok.” Team sources confirmed there are no major concerns about his fitness, and he is expected to be available for the opening Test at Headingley on June 20.

Pant’s Track Record in England Boosts India’s Hopes

The left-hander has enjoyed success in English conditions, amassing 556 runs in nine Tests, including two centuries. His proven ability to counter pace and swing makes him a key figure in India’s strategy against England’s bowling attack. Though the injury scare momentarily disrupted preparations, the team has received welcome relief with confirmation that Pant’s condition is not serious, and he remains a central figure in India’s Test campaign.
