Aaryavrat, Tvisha clinch chess titles

PANJIM: Aaryavrat Naik Desai and Tvisha Dessai of Canacona taluka won the U-11 State Chess Championship/selection tournament 2024, respectively, in Open & girls category. Aaryavrat scored 5.5 points from 6 rounds and remained undefeated in the tournament. Tvisha Dessai scored 5 points to win the championship in the girls category.
Shubh Borkar also scored 5.5 points but on tie-break finished 2nd while Arthav Shirodker scored 5 points and stood 3rd in Open category.
Diya Sawal and Kaya Coutinho also scored 5 points but on tie-break Diya stood 2nd while Kaya finished 3rd in girls category.
Other prize winners from 4th to 10th in Open category: Vihaan Tari, Atharva Borkar, Rishit Gawas, Joshua Telles, Saras Powar, Rudra Nagarsekar, and Sarthak Naik.
Girls category: Krutika Aggarwal, Skyla Rodrigues, Asmi Terse, Jensina Sequeira, Avani Sawaikar and Arna Sawant.
Category prize winners in U-7, U-9, Tiswadi and youngest in Open category: Trisha Patekar, Raghavi Haldankar, Survi Keloskar, Drisha Ghonge, Rahee Bugde, Vania Dukle, Brahami Mangasuli , Narayan Prabhu Dessai, aarav Naik, Aryan Naik, Zacahrias Gonsalves, Atharv Ghatwal, Ivan Dias , Schaffer Viegas and Swastik Solanki.
Prizes were distributed from the hands of guest Mahesh Candolkar (GCA president), Ashesh Keni (GCA secretary), Vishwas Pilankar (GCA treasurer), Narayan Pednekar Secretary Mahalaxmi Vachan Mandir), Dattaram Pinge (TTCA secretary), Arvind Mhamal (chief arbiter), Atish Angle, Pallavi Kakodkar and others.
The two selected players in open and girls will represent National U-11 to be held at Telangana from October 4 to 10.
