RAIA: In a thrilling encounter at the Anil Kamat Memorial Tournament, Ambelim Sports Club edged out Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda, 5-3 in a penalty shootout to advance to the next round, after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time.
The first half saw plenty of action, with Ambelim’s Jeniton D’Silva and Paroda’s Shelton Fernandes missing early chances. Ambelim kept up the pressure through Blasco Fernandes and Michel Silva, but Paroda goalkeeper Ravi Fernandes stood firm. Ambelim's Ozen Silva made a vital save in the 26th minute to deny Paroda.
After a goalless first half, Ambelim broke the deadlock in the 45th minute with a fine strike by Veroy Fernandes. Paroda equalised in the 60th minute through Likson Rebello.
With the score tied, the match went to penalties, where Ambelim SC proved more clinical to emerge victorious.
