RAIA: Ambelim Sports Club marched into the final of 1st Cipriano Silva Memorial Cup with a 2-1 win over Betalbatim Sporting Club at the Chinchinim church ground, on Tuesday.

Ambelim SC got off to a flying start, capitalising on an early lapse from the Betalbatim SC goalkeeper. Blasco Fernandes unleashed a long-range effort that was initially judged well, but fumbled, allowing Garry Fernandes to slot home the rebound inside the third minute.

The early goal sparked Ambelim SC’s momentum as they doubled their advantage in the 16th minute. Arvind Fernandes delivered a precise corner from the left, and Desmond Fernandes rose above his marker at the far post to head in a powerful finish and make it 2-0.

Betalbatim SC, however, refused to back down and clawed their way back into the contest just before the half-hour mark. Dickson Rogtao sent in a teasing free-kick which was met by Elroy Fernandes, who nodded to reduce the deficit. The score remained 2-1 at the break.

The second half saw Betalbatim SC dominate possession and push forward in search of the equaliser, but Ambelim SC's backline, marshalled with discipline and composure, held firm to deny any clear-cut chances.

Despite the result, Betalbatim SC’s Klusner Pereira put in a standout performance and was adjudged the man-of-the-match award, which was presented by Jacinto D'Silva in the presence of Benjamin Silva.
