RAIA: Hosts Arlem Youth Association secured a narrow 3-2 win over CAC Cansaulim to secure place into the quarter-finals of 33rd Arlem Rolling Trophy inter-village football tournament played at Raia panchayat ground, on Wednesday
Both teams started the match on a fast pace and within 7th minute of play CAC Cansaulim took lead with beautifully tapping the ball into the far corner of the net with the efforts of Agnelo D’Souza.
Then Arlem Youth Association found the equaliser in the 21st minute through Velroy Borges in the 27th minute. Arlem YA made 2-1 when Sweden Barbosa beat the rival goalkeeper to remained 2-1 lead at half time.
Changing over, CAC Cansaulim mounted pressure on Arlem YA and got a penalty kick but Agnelo’s shot was saved by Arlem YA goalkeeper.
As match progressed, Arlem YA further inflated the lead in the 40th minute of play by Roy Colaco. While in the final quarter, CAC Cansaulim’s Rio Rodrigues reduce the margin due to defence error.
