MAPUSA/RAIA: BAFF Bicholim were stretched into tie breaker as they defeated St. Savio Sports Club Baga by 4-3 margin to move ahead in the Peddem Bomm Cup played at Peddem grounds, here, on Monday.
St Savio Sports Club Baga playing with ten players managed to hold BAFF to a goalless draw at the end of the regulation time.
Both the teams missed numerous goal scoring opportunities where finally the winners had to be decided via tiebreaker. BAFF Bicholim emerged victorious with a score of 4-3.
Verna CSC
move ahead
Verna Cultural Sports Club, Verna, defeated St Sebastian YSC, Fatorda, 4-3 via tie-breaker to move ahead in the St Rock’s inter-village football tournament played at Majorda ground, on Monday.
Edgar Noronha gave the lead to St Sebastian YSC which was later cancelled by Desmond Gama for Verna CSC. In the ensuing tie-breaker, Verna CSC proved to be the better shooters. The man-of-the-match was awarded to Samuel Miranda of Verna Cultural Sports Club.
CAC Cansaulim

CAC Cansaulim defeated Youth Club of Shiroda 3-2 to move into the quarter-finals of 1st late Antonio Colaco memorial football tournament played at Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Sunday.
CAC Cansaulim netted three quick goals through Jesus D’Sa and Agnelo D’Souza netted a brace.
Youth Club of Shiroda netted through Monzilo Pereira and Pearson Vaz.
Cuncolim Union
edge past St Anthony SC
in tie-breaker
Cuncolim Union pulled off a remarkable 6-5 victory over St Anthony SC, Assolda,to move into the next round of 26th Holy Cross Sports Clubs football tournament played Vodlemol ground, Kakoda.
Despite being just eight men, Cuncolim Union displayed extraordinary resilience and composure to clinch the win.
St Anthony SC dominated the opening half with a flurry of attacks but were unable to find the net. Against the run of play, it was Cuncolim Union who broke the deadlock in the 15th minute. Vinod Velip netted a fine goal after receiving a perfectly timed through ball from Daulat Dessai, giving Cuncolim Union a 1-0 lead and a burst of momentum.
However, their lead was short-lived. In the 26th minute, St Anthony SC equalised in a brilliant one-on-one move, calmly dribbling past the defence to slot it in and make it, 1-1. The second half saw, St Anthony SC upped their attacking tempo, making several quick attempts to reclaim the lead. But the depleted Cuncolim Union side held their ground with strong defensive organisation, frustrating St Anthony SC forwards.
With no goals in the second half, the match headed into a tie-breaker. Cuncolim Union held their nerves as Viral, Daulat, Tushar, Shankar and Ansh converted their penalties. St Anthony SC’s Jackson, Samuel, Vicky and Welson also found the net, but one crucial miss proved costly.
Mitra Veterans
move ahead
Mitra Veterans, Candolim, downed Quepem Veterans 3-1to move into the next round of St Anthony SC veterans football tournament played at Banoto ground, Mapa-Panchwadi.
Mitra Veterans netted a hat-trick through Trevor Antao, while Micheal netted a goal for Quepem Veterans.
