RAIA: Betalbatim Sporting Club secured their place in the semi-finals of 27th Holy Cross inter-village football tournament with a 2-1 victory over SC Davorlim in a closely contested quarter-final match played at Vodlemoll ground, Kakoda, on Thursday.
Betalbatim SC opened their account in the very 3rd minute, thanks to a powerful free-kick from Dickson. Although, the shot initially landed in the goalkeeper’s hands, he failed to hold onto it, fumbling the ball into his own net.
Despite several opportunities throughout the game, Betalbatim SC were unable to convert their chances and increase their lead in the first half.
In the 59th minute, Dickson struck again to double the Betalbatim SC’s advantage. He capitalised on a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper, who lost control and fell, allowing Dickson to calmly slot the ball home.
SC Davorlim pulled one back in the final minute of the match through Ajay, who found the back of the net with a composed finish following a rebound from a free-kick.

Velroy Fernandes’ goal helped Carmel Boys, Curtorim, to edge past Ambaulim Quepem Boys to enter into the semi-finals of 18th Rebello Pandal football tournament played at St Rita Church ground, Maina Curtorim, on Thursday.
Both teams played an attacking football and got equal opportunities to score but failed to capitalise on the chances they got
For Carmel Boys, Velroy Fernandes scored the all-important goal with powerful shoot in the 24th minute of play and that goal turned out to be the match winning goal.

Margao Sports Club blanked SCC Loutolim 2-0 to enter into the quarter-finals of the 1st Antonio Colaco memorial football tournament organised by Mandopa Sports Club at Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Thursday.
Margao Sports Club scored the goals in the second half of play through Shubert Colaco and Frazer Miranda in the 45th and 58th minute of play.

in U-14 girls final
The King’s School, Sao Jose De Areal and St Anne’s Institute, Agonda, entered the final of U-14 girls category of 5th All Goa inter-school Sir Jawaharlal Da Costa football tournament organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim at Seraulim panchayat ground, on Thursday.
In the first semi-final, The King’s School, Sao Jose de Areal, hammered Fatima Convent High School, Margao, 4-0. Analee D’Costa scored a brilliant hat-trick and Joida Rocha added one more to take the finally tally to 4-0.
In the other semi-final, St Anne’s Institute, Agonda, also scored an easy victory over Regina Martyrum High School, Assolna, 4-0. Gwyneth Fernandes scored a hat-trick and Anissa Fernandes added one more to end the match.
In the U-12 boys category, The King’s School defeated Loyola High School ‘B’, Margao, 3-0. Joshua D’Costa, Issac Mendes and ArnavTikande scored a goal each for The King’s School to enter the semi-finals
In the U-14 boys category, The King’s School scored a convincing 3-1 victory against St Jude High School, Betalbatim. Ambu Dalvi scored a brace and Soham Mane scored a goal for The King’s School. However, Shiva Indwar reduced the margin for St Jude High School, Betalbatim.
Saviour of the World High School, Loutolim, scored a 3-2 victory over Marina English High School, Verna. Rajesh Sarki scored a brace and Shivam Kumar scored a goal for Saviour of the World. Clive Hama and Wonzel Fernandes scored a goal each for Marina English High School.
