Bidesh XI SC Thrash Saligao United 4-0 in Candolim Panchayat Cup Opener

MAPUSA/RAIA: Bidesh XI SC had an easy outing as they drubbed Saligao United SC by 4-0 margin in the inaugural match of the Candolim Panchayat Cup 2025 organised by Candolim Sports club at Dr Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim.

The match was kicked off by acting Candolim Sarpanch Amalina Dias.

Bidesh XI SC took an early lead in the very second minute of play through Kunal Salgaonkar, who tapped the ball into the goal of a cross by Prajot Naik, 1-0. Just three minutes later, Akash Kudnekar doubled the lead.

On crossing ends, Bidesh XI SC scored their third goal through Akash Kudnekar by tapping the ball home once again of a cross.

Saligao United did have their chances but their strikers failed to deliver the goods. Kunal Shetgaokar made it 4-0 in the 55th minute of play.

Pandal to meet

Carmel Boys in final

Carmel Boys, Curtorim, entered the final of 18th Rebello Pandal football tournament defeating Ghantimorod Boys, Navelim, 6-5, via tie-breaker at St Rita Church ground, Maina-Curtorim, on Tuesday.

Both teams played on a fast pace and couldn't break the deadlock and remained 0-0 till the full time.

In the resultant tie-breaker, Carmel Boys proved to be the better shooters.

Meliston Dias of Ghantamorod Navelim was awarded the man-of-the-match by Rosario Fernandes.

Hosts Rebello Pandal will meet Carmel Boys in the final on Sunday, at 4.30 pm.

Betalbatim SC for title

Uguem Rising Club secured a dramatic 4-2 victory via tie-breaker over Guardian Angel Sports Club to book their place in the final of 27th Holy Cross inter-village football tournament held at Vodlemoll ground, Kakoda, on Tuesday.

The clash was an eye-catching affair, with both teams showcasing exceptional skill and determination. Spectators were glued to the action from start to finish as both sides launched relentless attacks in pursuit of a goal.

In the first half, Guardian Angel SC dominated the ball possession pressing high and keeping Uguem RC’s defence on their toes. However, the second half saw a shift in momentum, with Uguem RC taking control and launching repeated offensives.

Despite several close chances, neither team could break the deadlock in the regulation time.

The match proceeded to a tie-breaker wherein Uguem RC proved more clinical. Francisco, Prathamesh, Rutik and Israel successfully converted their penalties, while only Regan and Godwin found the net for Guardian Angel SC. Uguem Rising Club will now face Betalbatim Sporting Club in the grand finale on Saturday.

In a high scoring thriller of the 1st Late Antonio Colaco memorial football tournament, Benfica Youth Club, Vasco, pipped Sao Jose de Areal SC 10-9 via tie-breaker to enter into the last eight of Mandopa Sports Club football tournament played at Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Tuesday

Both teams remained 3-3 draw at full time. Bersal Viegas scored a brace, while Platini scored the third goal for Sao Jose de Areal SC and for Benfica Youth Club Royann, Sidney and Jhonson scored one goal each.

In the resultant tie-breaker, Benfica YC proved to be the better shooters.

Nerul Cup: Calangute

Calangute Association dominated Sodiem Sports Club 2-0 to enter into the quarter-finals of Nerul Cup 2025 organised by Nerul Sports Club at Nerul ground, on Tuesday.

Calangute Association netted a goal each through Pedro Gonsalves, Richard Cardoso in the 16th and 52nd minute respectively.
