MAPUSA: Candolim SC registered a hard-fought 5-4 victory over St Anthony’s SC Marna-Siolim in a thrilling encounter at the Calangute Panchayat Cup 2025, held in loving memory of the late Rev Fr Conceicao D’Silva and organised by St Savio Sports Club, Calangute, at Poriat ground, on Thursday.
The Marna colts led 3-2 at the break, with Saideep Pomburphekar netting a brace and Dailesh Pednekar adding a third. For Candolim, Marcus Fernandes opened the scoring in the 4th minute, while Royce Gonsalves added the second before half-time.
After the interval, Candolim rallied strongly. Ashley Fernandes equalised before Marcus Fernandes struck again and Rajat Chopdekar added another to make it 5-3 in favour of Candolim. Sadanand Dabholkar pulled one back for Marna to reduce the deficit to 5-4.
Marcus Fernandes of Candolim was adjudged man-of-the-match and received the award from former GFA Vice President, Francis Fernandes.
