MAPUSA: Candolim SC registered a dominant 4-0 victory over Nuvem SC in the GFA First Division League match, played at the Duler stadium, propelling themselves to second place on the table with 15 points from seven matches. Nuvem SC, meanwhile, remain rooted to the bottom, still in search of their first point.

The Candolim side got off to a lively start and took a comfortable 2-0 lead at the break, thanks to a brace from U-21 player Aryan Salunke. Both goals were the result of incisive through passes—one from Aniket Naik and the other from Chandrakant Gadekar—showcasing Candolim’s sharp attacking play.

Nuvem had their best opportunity to pull one back when Cedar Colaco delivered a perfectly weighted free-kick that was nodded goalward by Francis Colaco. However, Candolim goalkeeper Jason D’Mello was up to the task, blocking the effort. The rebound fell to Shenoy Colaco, whose powerful strike rattled the crossbar, denying Nuvem once again.

Candolim kept up the pressure, but Nuvem goalkeeper Mohammad Aiman managed to deny Purthvi Chawan, Aryan Salunke, and Chandrakant Gadekar with some fine saves.

After the change of ends, Candolim continued their onslaught. Substitute Pralhad Velip added a third goal, before fellow substitute Latesh Mandrekar rounded off the scoring, sealing an emphatic 4-0 win.

Nuvem did manage to create a few chances of their own, but Candolim custodian Jason D’Mello remained resolute, pulling off crucial saves to deny Shenoy Colaco and Joven Fernandes in the second half.
