MAPUSA: CDJ Ribandar struggled before they finally got the better of PVC Parra 7-6 margin via tie-breaker to clinch the Vanxin-Divar Soccer Cup organized by Assonora United Football Club at Sirsaim ground, recently.
In an absorbing final, witnessed by a large crowd that returned home contented as the teams were locked in a 2-2 draw, at the end of the regulation time.
It was the CDJ Ribandar colts that surged ahead in the 12th minute of play as Devendra Korgaonkar scored with a neat placement. However, the team’s joy lasted for just five minutes as PVC Parra equalized through a fine header by Rowell Pinto, who connected Sahil Mandrekar’s cross, 1-1.
On crossing ends, PVC Parra took the lead as Jayesh Gadekar scored from a goal mouth melee.
Highest scorer for CDJ Ribandar side Newton Azavedo levelled terms as he controlled a cross from Shaikh Sahil and finished with a stiff grounder, 2-2. 
In the penalty shootout to decide the winner for CDJ Ribandar side Newton, Devendra, Shashank, Heston and Octavio scored on target while for PVC Parra colts Rowell, Waldron, Beston and Joaquim scored.
CDJ Ribandar returned home richer collecting the winners cash prize of Rs 40,000 while runners-up PVC Parra had to be content with Rs 30,000.
Individual prizes were awarded to: Opening goal of the final Devendra Korgaonkar (CDJ Ribandar), Best forward Waldren Martins (PVC Parra), Best goalkeeper Heston (CDJ Ribandar), Best defender Krishnanath Shirodkar (CDJ Ribandar) and Best midfielder Rowell Pinto (PVC Parra).
Chief guest Franky Viegas, GFA’s executive member and Nelson Silveira handed over the prizes to the players.
