
PANJIM: The CES College of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim and the defending champions Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem, won the Men and Women Kho-Kho Championship 2023-24 respectively, organised by the Goa University, at Goa University ground, Taleigao Plateau, recently.
In the well-contested Men’s championship final, CES College defeated Quepem Government College with a final score 48-34.
In the Women’s championship final, Quepem Government College defeated Shree Mallikarjun and Shree Chetan Manju Desai College Arts and Commerce, Canacona, with a final score 34-18.
Earlier, in the semi-finals of the Women’s section, Shree Mallikarjun College, Canacona defeated Government College of Commerce and Economics, Borda, with a score of 34-14 and Government College, Quepem, defeated CES College, Cuncolim, with a score 24-8.
In the Men’s semi-finals, CES College, Cuncolim, defeated Shree Mallikarjun College, Canacona, with a score of 38-32. And Government College, Quepem, defeated Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Khandola, with a score of 30-16.
Best Player Men was awarded to Sanket Velip of CES College, Cuncolim, and Best Player women was bagged by Ankita Velip of Government College, Quepem.
In total, 12 Men’s and 11 Women’s teams participated in the three days Inter-College Kho-Kho Championship.
Chief guest Dr Rajan Mathews, College Director of Physical Education and Sports, Government College, Quepem, and guest of honour Caitano Clemento, SAG Kho-Kho coach along with Balachandra Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports, Goa University, presented the medals and trophies to the winners and runners-up during the presentation ceremony.
