RAIA: Chandor Club outplayed United Sports Club of Seraulim 7-6 vie tie-breaker to book final berth in the Golden Jubilee Chandor Seamen football tournament organised by Chandor Club at Chandor Church Complex ground, on Sunday.
The game started on a The first breakthrough came in the 13th minute when United Club of Seraulim’s Alden Fernandes taking advantage of the lapse of Chandor Club defence chipped the ball into the Chandor Club goal keeping the custodian gapping. United Sports Club of Seraulim led 1-0 at the lemon break. Changing sides, Chandor Club put in extra efforts and came close to levelling the score when their player was pulled down in the box resulting in award of penalty kick, which was brilliantly converted by Mark Fernandes in the 40th minute bringing parity in the score.
The score at the end of regulation time was locked at 1-1 draw.
In the penalty shoot-out that followed, for Chandor Club Moises D’Sa, Hayden Fijardo, Mark Revlon, Mateus Gomes, Ashwell Peixoto and Mario Fernandes were on the target, while Ashley Fernandes, Floscio Fernandes, Selroy Fernandes, Alden Fernandes and Prosen Mondal netted for USC Seraulim.
The Hero-of-the-Match was awarded to Moises D’Sa by former player of Chandor Club Samy Dias.
Golden Jubilee mementoes of Chandor Club were given to both the clubs Brian Fernandes, Clinton Furtado, Marcel Fernandes and Antonio Pereira.
Chandor Club will now face Curtorim Gymkhana in the final on September 21.
