CALANGUTE: Chandor SC moved past Guardian Angel SC 2-1 in a closely contested match that kept spectators in high spirits and clinging to the edge of their seats in the Calangute Association Cup inter-village football tournament played at Poriat ground, here, on Friday.
The action kicked off in explosive fashion, with Brivon Dias netting for Chandor SC in the very first minute. Godwin Fernandes responded for Guardian Angel SC with a well-taken goal in the 24th minute, levelling the score. Just before halftime, Valentino Carvalho struck in the 35th minute to put Chandor SC back into the lead.
Both teams showcased attacking intent and created several goal-scoring opportunities but missed chances on the either side to keep the tension alive until the final whistle.
Godwin Fernandes of Guardian Angel SC was named the man-of-the-match for his standout performance and relentless drive on the field.
