PANJIM: Chowgule Global and Priority Construction MCC produced emphatic performances in their respective matches on the Day 3 of Bandodkar League T20 tournament organised by Panjim Gymkhana, Campal, here, on Sunday.
Sohraab Dhaliwal's stunning 72-run knock off just 28 balls, formed the bedrock of Chowgule Global's 23-run victory over Desserts N'More Geno SC in the first match of the day.
A majestic batting performance was witnessed in the next match when Kaushal Hattangadi missed his century by just two runs, with his 98-run knock powering Priority Construction MCC to a comprehensive 63-run win over Manas Panjim Gymkhana.
Put into bat Chowgule Global posted a formidable total of 206/4 with Sohraab (4x2, 6x8), who was named Player of the Match, crowning the entertaining inning with a flurry of five consecutive sixes off Samit Aryan Mishra in the last over of the inning. Aryan Narvekar (58) and Ayush Verlekar (53) also played a good hand.
In reply, Desserts N’More Geno SC opener Anand Tendulkar put up a great resistance with his unbeaten 83 runs off 56 balls (4x10, 1x6) keeping his side in the hunt with Lalit Yadav contributing 55 runs off 29 balls (4x5,6x3) at the other end. But, once their partnership for the 4th wicket was broken at 84, the contest fizzled out.
In the other match, Kaushal Hattangadi displayed superb touch in his chance-less knock of 98, which comprised 9 boundaries and 5 sixes as Priority Construction MCC registered the highest total of the tournament, of 210/7. He was involved in multiple partnerships, but the best was the 5th-wicket stand of 62 runs with Piyush Yadav (26).
In reply, the Manas Panjim Gymkhana chase was wrecked by wickets going down at regular intervals. The second-wicket stand of 40 runs was their best effort and with Kashyap Bakhle (50) being the only run-getter worth a note, the host team were all out for 147 runs in 19 overs.
Priority Construction MCC put in a mixed display in the field, but a skier taken by Tapaswi Pinninti, was probably the best outfield catch witnessed in the state cricket circuit. Tapaswi was also the most successful bowler picking up 4/40 off his 4 overs.
Brief scores: Chowgule Global 206/4 (Sohraab Dhaliwal 72, Aryan Narvekar 58, Ayush Verlekar 53; Ruthvik Naik 1/28, Shubham Desai 1/33), Desserts N’More Geno SC 183/5 (Anand Tendulkar 83 not out, Lalit Yadav 55; Srinivas Fadte 2/27, Amit Yadav 2/37). Chowgule Global won by 23 runs.
