RAIA: CRC Chinchinim stormed into the next round of the Our Lady of Merces 8-a-side football tournament with a commanding 5-2 win over United Club Verna, in a match organised by Sirlim Sports Club.
United Club Verna drew first blood in the 3rd minute through Clifton Rebello’s stunning long-range curler. However, CRC responded in the 13th minute when Chadel Fernandes dribbled past three defenders to equalise.
Steflon D’Costa put CRC ahead in the 29th minute, shifting the momentum decisively. After the break, Velrose Dias (33’), Rowan Fernandes (41’) and Senoy Olivera (52’) added to the tally to seal the victory at 5-1. A late strike by Royson Moniz (57’) was a mere consolation for Verna.
CRC goalkeeper Sunny Fernandes earned plaudits for his crucial saves throughout the game.
