RAIA: Curtorim Gymkhana booked their spot in the quarter-finals of 23rd Fr Basilio Andrade memorial tournament with an impressive 3-1 win over hosts Associacao Academica de Majorda, Utorda-Calata, on Thursday.

Oscar Braganza made a darting run into the Curtorim Gymkhana box but was brought down by Rhay Dias, prompting the referee to award Associacao Academica de Majorda a penalty. Ashley Rodrigues coolly converted from the spot, giving Associacao Academica de Majorda an early lead.

The first half saw chances at both ends but Associacao Academica de Majorda were leading 1-0.

The second half began with Associacao Academica de Majorda still threatening, but Curtorim Gymkhana’s persistence would eventually pay off. After a flurry of near misses and some more heroics from Fredy, Gilbert Fernandes finally broke through for Curtorim Gymkhana, hammering a low drive past the Associacao Academica de Majorda keeper to level the score.

Fredy continued his fine form, denying Aliston once again in a one-on-one situation. However, Curtorim Gymkhana’s dominance was undeniable, and with time running out, they took the lead through Anselm Fernandes, who pounced on a loose ball in the box and slotted it past Fredy. Anselm wasn’t done yet, sealing the victory moments later with a clinical right-footed strike, leaving Fredy with no chance.
