PANJIM: Don Bosco College, Panjim emerged Goa University Inter-Collegiate Women's Football Champions defeating defending champions Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, 2-0, played at the University Ground, Taleigao Plateau.
The first half saw a closely contested battle, with both teams creating chances but failing to break the deadlock, leaving the score at 0-0. Don Bosco College displayed superior short-passing techniques and kept possession in their opponent's half, but struggled to capitalise on their opportunities.
The second half continued with high intensity until Don Bosco College's persistence paid off in the 70th minute. A shot by Flani Costa slipped through the goalkeeper’s hands, giving Don Bosco the lead. Rosary College fought hard to equalise, but in the 84th minute, a deflected strike from Blessica Rodrigues sealed the victory for Don Bosco College.
Swellen Fernandes of Rosary College was named the best player of the championship.
The awards were presented by chief guest Milton Fernandes, former Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports, alongside guest of honour Dr Francis Lobo, College Director of Physical Education and Sports at Rosary College and other dignitaries.
