Double triumph for Shree Mallikarjun & Shri Chetan Manju Desai College

PANJIM: Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College, Canacona, secured the men’s and Women Cross Country Championship 2025-26 title organised by Goa University at the Goa University campus, Taliegao Plateau, recently.

In the men’s section, Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College, Canacona, finished with 26 points to claim the winner’s position.

The Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem, finish runners-up with 55 points, while the third position winner was Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts and Commerce, Pernem, with 63 points.

In women’s Section, Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College, Canacona, finished first with 31 points; followed by Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim, finishing runners-up with 41 points and Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem, securing third position with 44 points.

The event involved a 10 Km run for men and women, which was flagged-off by Dr Satyavan Harmalkar, college director of Physical Education and Sports, Narayan Zantye College, Bicholim, and Dr Rupa Chari, officiating principal of Shree Mallikarjun College, Cancona, respectively.

Chief guest for the presentation ceremony was Dr Rupa Chari, guest of honour Dr Savio Leitai, college director of physical education and sports, Shree Mallikarjun College; P D Shashikumar and Devi Gaonkar, SAG coaches along with Balachandra B. Jadar, assistant director of physical education and sports, Goa University, graced the occasion and presented trophies and medals to the winners and runners-up.

Individual results - men’s Section: 1st Ganesh Tamburkar (36:00.00), Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Margao; 2nd SurajVelip (36:09.00), Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College of Arts and Commerce, Canacona; 3rd Narayan Giri (36:58.00), Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts and Commerce, Pernem.

Women’s section: 1st Swezial D’Souza (44:47.00), St Xavier’s College, Mapusa; 2nd Ayan Soares (47.14.00), Rosary College, Navelim); 3rd Sakshi Kale (48:33.00), Government College, Khandola.
