Sanmesh Raul’s 41st Minute Goal Sends Dunes SC Past Betalbatim SC in Calangute Association Cup

CALANGUTE/RAIA: In the closely contested match, Dunes Sports Club scored a solitary goal win over Betalbatim Sports Club to march ahead in the Calangute Association Cup 2025 inter-village football tournament played at Poriat ground, Calangute, on Monday.

Sanmesh Raul made the difference scoring the lone goal in the 41st minute to seal the victory for Dunes Sports Club.

His outstanding performance on the field earned him the man-of-the-match award, which was presented by footballer Princeton Rebello.

Earlier, Assnora United proved their point in the tie-breaker to win against Arpora Sporting after both the teams settled for a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time.

The match kicked off with high energy from both sides. At the 18th minute, an unfortunate own goal by M A Francis of Assnora United gave Arpora Sporting an early lead.

However, Assnora United bounced back quickly, with Gaurish Bugde scoring a crucial equaliser in the 27th minute.

Despite several close chances from both teams, the game ended in a 1-1 draw at full time. The match proceeded to penalties, where Assnora United kept their nerves and emerged victorious.

The man-of-the-match was awarded to Gaurish Bugde (Assnora United).

Parish Youth Nuvem

Guirdolim Club cruised to a dominant 4-0 win against Parish Youth Nuvem to move into the next round of 27th All-Goa inter-village football tournament organised by Holy Cross Sports Club at Vodlemoll ground, Kakoda, on Monday.

Guirdolim Club took control of the game right from the start, dominating possession in the first half. They opened the scoring in the very 3rd minute through Kenzen and soon doubled their lead, thanks to a well-placed finish by Brivon.

By halftime, Guirdolim Club were firmly in control with a 2-0 lead.

The second half saw a brief dip in tempo, but Guirdolim Club regained momentum and added a third goal in the 43rd minute, courtesy of Melwin.

Parish Youth Nuvem made several attempts to reduce the deficit but were unable to breakthrough a solid Guirdolim Club defence.

In the dying moments of the match, Kenzen sealed the result by lobbing the ball over the Parish Youth Nuvem goalkeeper, capping off a comprehensive 4-0 win at full time.
