‘Even the umpire is getting paid’: Virender Sehwag's bold statement on Ishan Kishan's dismissal in SRH vs MI match

Former Indian cricketer and explosive opener Virender Sehwag commented on Ishan Kishan leaving the crease despite being not out, stating that he should have waited for the field umpire's decision. Sunrisers Hyderabad faced defeat in the 41st match of IPL 2025 against Mumbai Indians, which further deteriorated their position.

During the third over of Hyderabad's innings, Rahul Chahar was bowling. On the first ball of the over, Ishan Kishan tried to hit but missed the ball, and it was caught by Rikelton. The umpire partially raised his hand, and then Mumbai Indians players politely inquired about the catch. The umpire raised his finger fully, and Ishan Kishan walked off. Hardik made a mild appeal, but neither the keeper nor the bowler did much. The ultra-edge replay showed that the ball hadn’t touched his bat. However, Kishan had already left the field. The umpire didn’t signal for an out before the appeal, which was observed here.

Sehwag commented, "Sometimes, at that moment, the mind stops working. It was mental fatigue. Just wait. The umpire is being paid. Let him do his job. I didn’t understand his honesty. If it was an edge, it would have made sense as it would align with the spirit of the game. But it wasn’t out, the umpire was uncertain, and you suddenly walked off the field."

Rohit Sharma’s match-winning knock secures Mumbai Indians' fourth consecutive IPL win

Rohit Sharma scored his second consecutive half-century, and along with Suryakumar Yadav (not out 40), they shared a 53-run partnership, helping Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets on Wednesday, securing their fourth consecutive win in IPL. Thanks to a 99-run partnership between Heinrich Klaasen (71 off 44 balls) and Abhinav Manohar (43 off 37 balls), they set a target of 143 runs. Rohit finished the chase with 70 runs off 46 balls, ending the home team's troubles in 15.4 overs.
