MAPUSA: FC Goa were stretched into the penalty shoot-out before they finally got the better of Union of Chinchinim Villagers 6-4 and booked their place into the finals of GFA’s Girls Under-14 football tournament at Duler stadium, here on Sunday.

 The full time score was 2-2.

FC Goa were given a tough time by the Chinchinim girls who put up a spirited display during normal period of play which ended in a 2-2 draw.

Chinchinim took the lead in the 12th minute when Neha Verlecar found Clea Colaco on the edge of the box and the n last named hoodwinked Tyreana and placed the ball to the far corner of the goal.

FC Goa managed to draw level in the 41st minute as a miskick from Chinchinim goalkeeper Delphia Sousa travelled to Sienna Fernandes who scored.

 Chinchinim regained the lead in the 52nd minute. Vanya Rodrigues squared it to Valaina Fernandes who found Clea inside the penalty box and the last named coolly placed the ball into the goal.

When it looked that it was curtains down for FC Goa, with just three minutes remaining, a long clearance from the defense by Vishwaja Gaonkar saw  Krislynn Menezes collecting the ball and dispatching it into nylons.

Union of Chinchinim Villagers' Clea Colaco received the best player trophy award. 

MARGAO: Compassion FC entered the finals of the GFA Girls  U14 football tournament defeating Goan Warriors FC by 7-0 margin at the Nagoa panchayat football ground.

Compassion FC began right from the word go, but were unable to take advantage of the north Goa until the 9th minute of play with Pearl Fernandes opening the account. After receiving the ball from Moncy Vaz , it was Pearl who cut past 3 of their defenders and then placed the ball to the right corner of the net with goalkeeper Chetna Parulekar looking helplessly.

In the  27th minute Moncy Vaz collected a pass from Gretchen Vaz at the top of the box and unleashed a beautiful volley to score the 2nd goal.

Pearl Fernandes received a long pass from Sarita Chettri, dribbled past 2 defenders and scored the third goal in the 32nd minute.

A Few minutes later in a situation when the ball was being tried to be cleared by the warriors defenders it was intercepted well by Moncy Vaz and struck powerfully into the top of the net in the 35th minute from 10 yards range. Halftime the score was 4-0.

It was Pearl Fernandes who completed the rout by scoring in the 38th, 46th and 48th minute to set up the finals against FC Goa to be played on 1st March at the Duler stadium. Gretchen Vaz was awarded the player of the match for her superb performance although she was not among the goal scorers.
