Fr Agnel Pilar, El Shaddai emerge joint winners

PANJIM: Fr Agnel Ashram Orphanage, Pilar and El Shaddai emerged joint-winners of 2nd All-Goa inter-orphanage football festival after they were involved in a 5-5 draw after the regular time and tie-breaker organised by Our Lady of Hope Church, Chinchinim in association with the John Paul II foundation for sports (Goa) at Our Lady of Hope Church ground, Chinchinim. The score was 1-1 at full time.

The score was 1-1 at full time. 
 The deadlock continued in the tie-breaker with the teams scoring four goals each and hence the organizers decided to declare both the teams as joint-winners. 
El Shaddai overcame Fr Agnel’s, Verna in the league stages while Fr Agnel’s, Pilar defeated Care and Compassion and Margaret Bosco Bal Sadan (Don Bosco) Ucassaim to qualify for the finals.
Individual prizes -- Best goalkeeper: Mahindra (Fr Agnel Ashram, Verna). Best player: Maruthi (El Shaddai). Boy of the finals: Manjunath (El Shaddai). Promising player of the tournament: Ajit B (Margaret Bosco Bal Sadan). Upcoming player: Edwin D’Souza (Fr Agnel, Pilar). Five boys from each team will be selected to attend a four-day residential camp before leaving for a tournament in Chennai.
All teams were presented with football jerseys. The trophies were presented by Fr Armando Souza, parish priest of Our Lady of Hope who was the chief guest. Fr Alferd Almeida, Sr Jennifer and Sr Jyothi of Agnel Ashram Verna, Fr Arvind and Fr Kim of Don Bosco and Fr Andrew and Fr Jiva of Fr Agnel Pilar, Valentine and Laxman from El Shaddai and James from Care and Compassion were among those present. 
Chalton Furtado of John Paul II Foundation for Sports (Goa) coordinated the event.
