PANJIM: Fr Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Verna booked their place in the 64th Subroto Cup International Tournament in New Delhi later this month after defeating St Xavier’s HSS, Mapusa, 3-0, in the State final at the Santa Cruz ground.
Skipper Jayden Pinto opened the scoring in the 15th minute to give Fr Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School a slender half-time lead. Casvino Fernandes doubled the advantage in the 35th minute before Freeden Mendes sealed victory with the third in the 60th.
This marks the second successive year that Fr Agnel Multipurpose Higher Secondary School will represent Goa at the prestigious national schools’ tournament.
The final was attended by Fr Agnelo Gomes, Director of Agnel Technical Educational Complexes, and Fr Vicky Hilario, Manager of Fr Agnel Multipurpose HSS. The team is coached by Luis Barreto of South Goa Academy, assisted by former India coach.
