RAIA/MAPUSA: It was a day of emphatic victories in the GFA Third Division league on Wednesday, with St Anthony’s Club Colva, Curtorim Gymkhana and United Ucassaim SC all posting convincing wins in their respective zones.
In the Salcete zone, St Anthony’s Club Colva blanked Dando Boys Club Benaulim 2-0 at Dando ground, courtesy of goals from Samson Gomes and substitute Dinu Raikar. At Curtorim ground, the hosts demolished Sports & Welfare Club of Zaino Velim 7-0. Albino Pereira netted a brace, while Crimson Fernandes, Selton Fernandes, Bradley Carvalho, Versly Paes and Afileo Fernandes added their names to the scoresheet.
Meanwhile in the Bardez zone at Moira ground, United Ucassaim SC proved too strong for Benny XI Mapuca, coasting to a 3-0 victory. Danish Shaikh opened the scoring in the 34th minute, before Savio Fernandes and Paulo Joao sealed the result with second-half strikes.
At Nerul ground: Penha de France registered a hard fought 1-0 win over Nerul SC. Flasten Martins scored the all important goal for Penha de France.
