PANJIM: The Goa Police Sports Cell in association with the Goa Football Association (GFA) and Vasco Sports Club will be organizing the 14th edition of the Goa Police Football Cup to be played from August 7-19.
This edition will see 12 teams battle it out for supremacy in a league cum knock-out format which will be played across 4 venues –Duler, Raia, Cuncolim and Ambelim. 
The teams are divided in four groups with Goa’s top four teams –Sporting Clube de Goa placed in Group A, Vasco SC in Group B, Dempo SC in Group C while Salgaocar FC in Group D.  
However, Indian Navy will be the only outstation team participating in the competition while FC Bardez will play in their debut tournament.
The winners will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh along with rolling trophy while the runners-up will take home a prize of Rs 1 lakh. The best player of the tournament will be awarded Rs 10,000.  
Speaking on the launch, chief guest, Karthik Kashyap, wished all the teams well and encouraged them to play in the true spirit of the game.
The tournament was launched at the hands of Karthik Kashyap, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Sports and Crime, Vishram Borkar, GPS, Superintendent of Police, HQ,  Anthony Monserrate, Dy Superintendent of Police, sports, Bhooshan Rege, cluster head, Axis Bank, Goa and Nitin N Bandekar, president, Vasco SC.
