MAPUSA: Goa Velha Sports Club managed to edge past Augustias Sports Club, Pomburpa, by 2-1 margin in the inaugural match of 1st Vedanta Soccer organised by Sinquerim SC at Sinquerim ground, on Monday.
It was Augustias SC that drew the first blood in the 20th minute through Rohan Naik, who scored from the penalty spot, 1-0.
Goa Velha SC regrouped themselves and not only saw Stendly Lopes level terms 10 minutes later from a goalmouth melee but the latter scored the winning goal with a neat placement on crossing ends, 2-1.
